What are the Benefits of Baptism?

Jesus told us to baptize, so baptism is good, important, and obedient.

Baptism is the evidence of salvation, not the cause of it.

Salvation is based on faith - it not based on whether a person is baptized or not, but Baptism is still important.

Supportive Scripture:

Romans 6:4 (NLT): “For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.”

Baptism is more than just getting wet—it’s a powerful symbol of what happens when we choose to follow Jesus. Romans 6:4 gives us the picture: going under the water represents being buried with Christ, and coming up represents being raised to a brand‑new life.

So what are the benefits of baptism?

1. It shows what Jesus has done inside you. Baptism doesn’t save you, but it shows that you’ve been saved. It’s a public way of saying, “I belong to Jesus now.”

2. It reminds you that your old life is gone. Going under the water symbolizes leaving behind sin, shame, and the old you. You’re not stuck in your past anymore.

3. It celebrates the new life Jesus gives. Coming up out of the water is a picture of resurrection—just like Jesus rose again, you now walk in a life filled with love, hope, and purpose.

4. It’s a step of obedience. Jesus told His followers to be baptized. When you do it, you’re saying, “I’m following Him, and I’m not going back.”

Baptism is a celebration, a declaration, and a reminder that Jesus has changed your life from the inside out.
